Transportation Policy Series on COVID-19: Planning in a Pandemic with Stephanie Lotshaw & Ben Fried

Stephanie has diverse experience in the transportation sector assisting cities with the implementation of transit systems that improve urban livability and economic opportunity. She was most recently a program manager in the US & Africa office of the Institute for Transportation & Development Policy, where she worked on projects in Chicago; Albuquerque; Kampala, Uganda; Johannesburg, South Africa; and Nairobi, Kenya. Her work focused on helping cities to implement bus rapid transit, bike and pedestrian projects as well as to finance and implement high quality transit-oriented development around transit corridors.

Ben Fried oversees TransitCenter’s press strategy and communications. Previously he covered the movement for better transit and more people-friendly city transportation systems as editor-in-chief of Streetsblog.

Rachel Zack is the Director of Policy at Remix. Her passion for empowering planners with access to insights for better decision-making stem from her many years of advising on cutting edge transportation problems, such as TNC regulation (Uber and Lyft), road usage pricing, congestion pricing, express lanes, and planning for autonomous vehicles. Before joining Remix, Rachel launched the Innovative Mobility arm of WSP where she led alternative transportation programs around the Bay Area and advised city and state agencies on strategic planning for new mobility. Her work in the field received the Caltrans Excellence in Transportation Award in WTS Innovative Transportation Solutions Award.
