Code of Conduct

Welcome!

Transpo Talk is a private Slack community for transportation professionals to gather and navigate transitions and changes in the industry together. We've observed an increasing desire within the Remix community to connect with others across the industry for knowledge-sharing, discussion, and support, and heard from many of you that our COVID-19 virtual events created a valuable space to discuss critical issues.

We'd like to extend a forum primarily for customers, partners, and friends of the Remix community that enables peer learning and conversations beyond our regular webinars.

Your Transpo Talk admins will be identified by a special Admin badge in their status. Please feel free to reach out to anyone with the Admin badge if you need help.

Community Culture

Transpo Talk strives to be a community that reflects the culture of our host company, Remix. We want to foster an inclusive, collaborative, safe, and welcoming environment for everyone, regardless of gender identity, sexual orientation, ability, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, and religion (or lack thereof). This code of conduct outlines our expectations for all members of the Transpo Talk community, as well as the consequences for unacceptable behavior.

Be welcoming. We’re all in this together, and we joined this community to support each other and learn from diverse perspectives.

Be considerate. Our words are powerful - let’s use them to help each other grow and strengthen our industry.

Be respectful. Not all of us will agree all the time, but disagreement is no excuse for poor behavior and poor manners.

Confidentiality and Message Retention

Please keep what's said in Transpo Talk confidential. Don't repeat or quote things said here without the affirmative consent of the member(s). When quoting (with consent), you can refer to the quote as something that was said "in chat" or while you were talking to the quoted member.

Please be mindful that things you say here may at some point become public. We cannot prevent people from screencapping or otherwise logging this slack. We also can't guarantee that every member's login credentials and logged-in devices are secure. Files uploaded here can be downloaded by anyone with a login. Please exercise caution and refrain from sharing sensitive information that could harm you or others if it became public.

Because this is a free Slack account, we have restricted scrollback, but Slack--the company--retains complete logs of all channels and direct messages back to the creation of Transpo Talk. Slack is a U.S. company and therefore subject to subpoenas from U.S. courts. Our logs may be subject to subpoena and could become public as part of legal proceedings.

Our Standards

The following behaviors are expected for all Transpo Talk members:

  • Demonstrating empathy and kindness toward other members
  • Being respectful of differing opinions, viewpoints, and experiences
  • Giving and gracefully accepting constructive feedback
  • Accepting responsibility and apologizing to those affected by our mistakes, and learning from the experience
  • Focusing on what is best not just for us as individuals, but for the overall community
  • Be mindful of your surroundings and of your fellow members. Alert a Transpo Talk admin if you notice someone in distress, or violations of this Code of Conduct, even if they seem inconsequential.

Unacceptable Behavior

The following behaviors are considered harassment and are unacceptable within our community:

  • The use of sexualized language or imagery, and sexual attention or advances of any kind
  • Trolling, insulting or derogatory comments, and personal or political attacks
  • Public or private harassment
  • Publishing others’ private information, such as a physical or email address, without their explicit permission
  • Other conduct which could reasonably be considered inappropriate in a professional setting

Reporting

Transpo Talk admins are responsible for clarifying and enforcing our standards of acceptable behavior and will take appropriate and fair corrective action in response to any behavior that they deem inappropriate, threatening, offensive, or harmful.

If you are subject to or witness unacceptable behavior, or have any other concerns, please contact a Transpo Talk admin. They’ll respond as promptly as they can.

We will respect confidentiality requests for the purpose of protecting victims of abuse. At our discretion, we may publicly name a member about whom we’ve received harassment complaints, or privately warn third parties about them. We will not name harassment victims without their affirmative consent.

Consequences

Unacceptable behavior from any Transpo Talk member will not be tolerated. Anyone asked to stop unacceptable behavior is expected to comply immediately.

If a member engages in harassing behavior, the admins may take any action they deem appropriate, up to and including expulsion from this Slack community and identifying the member publicly as someone about whom we've received complaints.

Data Use

By signing up for Transpo Talk, you agree to having your first name, last name, title, and organization added to the members-only Transpo Talk User Directory.

By signing up for Transpo Talk, you also agree to receive emails about events, Remix news, and marketing deemed relevant to this community. You can always opt-out by selecting “unsubscribe.”
